By getting good at making your talkers feel appreciated and recognized, you’ll find they talk about you ten times as often. Here’s a few ways to get started:
1> Thank them personally
2> Thank them publicly
3> Thank them regularly
1> Thank them personally
Get in the habit of personally thanking your talkers. Say it face to face when you see them, send thank-you notes, and frequently reward them for referring a friend. It doesn’t have to be fancy or elaborate, but a personal thank you will mean a lot to a fan.
2> Thank them publicly
Recognition is more powerful when its public. Mention your top talkers on your website, post photos of your biggest fans, and give thanks in your publications. A public thank you is not only a great reward, but it’s also a big motivator for other potential talkers.
3> Thank them regularly
Make recognition part of the program. Give your talkers status, logos, icons, special bonuses — anything that frequently acknowledges them for talking about you. With a little creativity, you can build some automatic recognition into your word of mouth program that consistently thanks your biggest fans.
