Director of Social Media Business Council Sales

The Social Media Business Council is the community for heads of social media at the world’s greatest brands (see the complete list at http://www.socialmedia.org). We’re looking for a proven membership salesperson to persuade Fortune 1000-type companies to join our organization.

This is a BtoB sale to companies in the social media business — but it’s also a relationship-building exercise, because our product is a long-term community membership. You need to be a community member and evangelist, too.

Sales are brisk and the product is popular. Current members include Procter & Gamble, Dell, Wells Fargo, Microsoft, Home Depot, and many others. We have well-qualified leads, a rich pipeline, and an efficient, supportive team.

Your job is to generate new membership sales opportunities by:

  • Identifying target prospects and contacting them via cold calls or social media
  • Presenting the value proposition and feature benefits of the Social Media Business Council
  • Consistently updating and maintaining detailed records utilizing the company’s database
  • Talking the talk of social media, using social media, and fully participating in the community

We’re looking for:

  • Proven BtoB sales experience with VP- and C-level executives at large corporations
  • Strong knowledge of social media and word of mouth marketing
  • Proficient with customer relationship management systems (Salesforce.com, ACT, etc.)
  • Good communication and persuasive skills, both written and oral
  • A self-starting, self-managed sales executive who can effectively close new business with desired prospects
  • Creative-minded, marketing savvy
  • Embraces a small company culture (and knows what that means); start-up experience is preferred
  • A history of over-achieving quota / a top sales performer
  • Consultative, approachable, and your clients trust you
  • High levels of energy, drive, enthusiasm, initiative, and commitment
  • Honest, trustworthy, and ethical

Compensation will include base, benefits, and substantial commissions. This is a full-time, in-the-office position based in Chicago, IL or Austin, TX, hiring immediately. No relocation assistance is provided. GasPedal is an equal opportunity employer.
